Norex 325
Norex 325 enlarged to mimic a standard 2 mm leadholder.

I don’t quite know what to make of this novelty. It seems to be a miniature drafting leadholder scaled down to hold 1.18 mm writing pencil lead instead of standard 2 mm drafting lead. There is a hole in the pushbutton suggesting that it could be hung from a neck chain as was once the fashion for ladies in the early 20th century. But the style of the pencil contradicts this use as it is a very un-ladylike working man’s style.

My pet theory is that it is a novelty “key chain” item styled after an actual Norex drafting pencil.

Häfter P15
The P.15 enlarged to compare scale with standard 2 mm leadholder (below).

Häfter P15

The scale comparison above, I think, reinforces my theory that these miniature leadholders are novelty versions of real drafting leadholders. I scaled up the Hafter so the lead diameter matched that of the Koh-I-Noor VT 827. Notice how the dimensions of the Hafter coincide very closely with those of the Koh-I-Noor. I should note as well that the Koh-I-Noor has a thicker than average barrel. I chose it because it was similar in to the Hafter in other ways such as the color and nose shape.
