What’s new
a reverse chronological history of Leadholder
Dennis B. Smith, curator
2002 April 29 — 2004 November 11
See those little icons after the links in the June 8 entry? That’s it. That’s the update. Happy?
Well, okay. There is a bit more, but nothing your likely to notice. The site is currently undergoing big structural changes behind the scenes and the icons are the one immediately visible chage so far. If you hover your cursor over a link preceding one of the icons and your browser is reasonably up-to-date you’ll notice a “tooltip” style message informing you that the link will open in a new window.
For you HTML geeks, the site will have expanded CSS features and some useful new Javascripting. I’m a visual artist, so really my thing is the layout and graphics of the site. I’ve been trying to overhaul the appearance of Leadholder.com, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it is fine the way it is.
“That’s neat, Dennis, but what about the site’s content? That’s the big draw, not your lame-ass web design efforts,” I hear you saying, and you’re right. I’ll do some content updating soon.
This is a bit of a flukey update. No actual content has been added, but I do have a few bloggy sort of remarks.
First off, if you happen to be one of those toy packaging engineers who thinks it’s a good idea to lash every tiny piece of every toy into its box with heavy gauge wire, I’m going to hunt you down and fucking hurt you. Bad. And I’ll make it look like an accident.
Okay... With that out of the way, about Leadholder.com... oh, wait a minute. I just remembered another blogish rant I’ve been wanting to post on the internet somewhere. I don’t like
George W Bush
. In the interest of tolerance though I welcome those who do like the filthy piece of shit to enjoy themselves on this a-political website.
Anyway,
Leadholder was featured in the newsletter of the
American Pencil Collectors Society
. It was a while ago, but if you did happen to find out about my site from the newsletter, I’m glad you stopped by. If you are one of the internetless folks who saw the article and took the time to contact me via the postal service, thanks for writing. I apologize for not writing back, but I misplaced your letters. Someday they’ll turn up and we’ll all have a big laugh about it.
Also,
Leadholder was a

“Pick of the Day” or something. This was a while ago too, but if you found out about my site from Yahoo, I’m glad you stopped by.
Last bit: I’ve added a few links here and there to

which is another website of mine. Smithtwins features t-shirt designs and whatnot including some inspired by some of the images found on
Leadholder so go have a peek.

Leadholder is now in “maintenance mode” meaning I won’t be updating it for the forseeable future. It will remain online indefinitely and I do plan on directing more of my attention to it someday. I still enjoy hearing from visitors with questions and comments so keep those coming.
The shop pages have been removed as I no longer have time to fill orders. Feel free to ask though if you are looking for something in particular. I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to even reply to your request, but I will be sifting through my leadholder mail on occasion.
